After a very long delay, Tarun’s ‘Chukkalanti Ammayi Chakkanaina Abbayi’ has hit the screens today. The movie has been directed by Kanmani. Gogineni Srinivasa Rao has produced this film jointly with Raju Harvani. The movie has Vimala Raman as the heroine. Let us see if the film is worth a watch.

Story :

Sanjay ( Tarun) is a carefree guy who believes in enjoying life to the fullest extant possible. He rejects his father’s request to enter the family business and takes off for Bangkok instead. He participates in a weekly ‘Love Guru’ TV Program over there and has fun with that income.

While roaming around Bangkok, he comes across Sameera (Vimala Raman). Sameera is a medical student and she is a very responsible lady. As can be expected, Sanjay starts wooing Sameera and she falls for his charms.

As the relationship turns serious, Sanjay proposes something very radical. He asks Sameera to move in with him, for a live in relationship. He wants to see if they are compatible for a longterm commitment like marriage.

Will Sameera agree to Sanjay’s plans? Will they live together and take the final step towards marriage? That forms the story of this film

Plus Points :

Tarun looks quite stylish in the film. He has tried his best to do justice to his role. Vimala Raman looks ultra glamorous in this movie. From an acting perspective, she is just about ok. But she more than makes up for it in the glamour department.

Chitram Sreenu has managed to bring some humour into the film. Vijay Sai is ok. Pragathi has given a dignified performance

Minus Points :

There are a lot of issues with this film’s story and screenplay. The film draws heavy ‘inspiration’ from a number of successful films. ‘Salaam Namaste’ is one film that immediately springs to mind.

The movie is very predictable. The cliched sequences and outdated storytelling ensures that you know exactly how the next scene is going to unfold.

If the first half of this film is boring, the second half is atrocious. The placement of songs is really bad and they kill whatever little pace the film has.

Brahmanandam and Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam have been wasted in this movie. Apart from their poor characterisation, what really hurts the most is the fact that some other voices were used to dub for their role.

The movie never really engages the viewers at any point and ultimately ends up being a borefest.

Technical Analysis :

95% of the film has been shot in Bangkok and cinematography is pretty ok here. Editing of this film is substandard and care should have been taken to cut the slack in the movie. Dialogues are very mediocre. Anoop Rubens is not his usual self in this movie. Songs are not too impressive and background music is very loud.

Kanmani’s direction is not impressive. He has failed to engage the viewers with his narration.

Verdict :

Chukkalanti Ammayi Chakkanaina Abbayi is a very boring and painfully slow film. The outdated story line and poor direction only add to the film’s troubles. This film can be safely avoided. Tarun needs to explore other options if he wants to make a comeback.
