Beleaguered YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who tasted a crushing defeat in recently held Assembly polls, has written an open letter to his bete noire- AP CM Chandra Babu Naidu on Monday. In what is seen as big volte face by Jagan, Jagan has asked Babu to "implement" crop-loan waiver with immediate effect. Earlier on umpteen occasions, during and after polls, Jagan stated that the crop-loan waiver is "impossible" and dubbed Babu's promise as "false". Now that Naidu took oath as Chief Minister and signed on the loan-waiver file, Jagan now blaming Naidu for the alleged "delay".

Here is the Summary of Jagan's Open Letter to Babu:

"Although it is the second week of June, ryots are unable to get loans from banks. The scenario is bad such that farmers can't even get a one-rupee as loan. Given that you have promised to waive agricultural loans soon after you come to power, people have voted for you. We wholeheartedly want you to waive all kinds of agricultural loans. Without any delay, we urge you to waive crop-loans, gold-loans, and agricultural loans as promised by you."

"Waive all the loans such that farmers, agriculture is not affected. Provide fresh loans to farmers from the very day old-loans have been waived off. To do this, why do you need formalities? Everyone knows the loans of crop-loans, gold-loans, Dwacra loans and loans of handi-craftsmen. Constituting committees, setting up 45 days as deadline was neither part of your poll promise nor mentioned in your manifesto. It is improper to constitute committees now as it delays further and pushes farmers into hopeless, despair condition."
