The Delhi High Court on Tuesday remanded noted Bollywood comedian Rajpal Yadav to 10 days police custody for concealing facts about a Rs.5 crore recovery suit filed against him and his wife by a Delhi-based entrepreneur. Justice S. Murlidhar also asked Yadav's wife to remain present in the Registrar General's office till the rising of the court. The judge also issued a contempt of court notice against two lawyers representing the couple.
Rajpal was handpicked by Ram Gopal Varma. Varma spotted Yadav in the audience of Mast and also in a small role as a server in a cafe. RGV, who was impressed, gave him a very challenging role in Jungle. Despite comedy being his main orientation, Yadav has had leading character roles in films like Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon, Ladies Tailor,Rama Rama Kya Hai Drama, Hello! Hum Lallan Bol Rahe Hain, Kushti, Mirch and others.
