The UPA government is all set for an immediate rollback of subsidy cap on cooking gas and the hike in fuel prices to appease voters for 2014 polls.
Finance Minister P Chidambaram's policies came up for much criticism at Sonia Gandhi’s inquest with party leadership on the poor showing in the polls and political managers of the just ended congress rout in polls attributed the loss to the LPG subsidy cap besides the fuel price increase.
Ironically in spite of its huge welfare sops the UPA government had dolled out in the last few years the ruling congress Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) toppled it in Delhi with its poll promise of cheaper electricity and water bills and corruption-free governance. As a result the congress party machinery demand for roll back on fuel prices and LPG immediately and the core committee conceded to it almost immediately .
But the youth and the voters are perplexed that in spite of the wash out in congress no heads have rolled and no one has been held accountable for the party's worst poll showing in recent times.
