Post her outburst over ignoring her name in the nominations for prestigious Award, Sports Ministry has recommended Saina Nehwal's name for Padma Bhushan award.
On Sunday, Saina claimed to be feeling sad as Sports Ministry of India didn't sent her name to the Ministry of Home Affairs. "I hope sports ministry look up to this," she told.
On the other hand, Saina found fault with Sports Ministry prefering Olympic medal winner Sushil Kumar inspite of the norm that there should be 5 years gap between Padma Award to the same person. As Sushil Kumar received Padma Shri in 2011, He is eligible for Padma Bhushan only in 2016. She also claimed her name was rejected last year for the same reason.
Sports Ministry, however, clarifies Sushil Kumar's choice is purely on merit and relaxing the rules for highly deserving candidates is allowed.
