Dr T Rajaiah took charge as Telangana Deputy Chief Minister at the State Secretariat today. He assured the medical and health sector in Telangana would be free from corruption and irregularities. Rajaiah also holds the portfolio of Medical and Health, signed the file increasing the bed strength in MGM Hospital of Warangal from 50 to 120.
“All the steps would be taken to develop and improve infrastructure in the public hospitals. Staff would face the stringent action in case of dereliction of duties. I would conduct surprise checks of all hospital across Telangana. The medical education too will be promoted at a large scale. Service of humanity is the motto of TRS Government,” Rajaiah said.
An hour after taking charge, Rajaiah made a surprise visit to Gandhi Hospital to check the conditions. Rajaiah interacted with the patients, staff and doctors of Gandhi Hospital enquired about the facilities. While the patients complained of lack of doctors, medicines and other facilities, the management complained of shortage of staff to maintain the hospital. He assured the patients that the TRS Government would take immediate measures to improve the facilities.
“I would convene a meeting with the elected representatives of twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad after the Assembly session to discuss the measures to be taken for improving the conditions of Gandhi and Osmania General Hospitals which serve as backbone of public health in Telangana,” Rajaiah also said.
