AP endowment minister Manikyala Rao shocked the people by declaring that 28,000 acres of temple lands were encroached in Andhra Pradesh. A task force will be set up to survey the temple lands and resume them in a phased manner.

The minister visited the Narasapuram belt to review the facilities needed for Godavari pushkaram infrastructure in West Godavari district. He plans to visit all temple towns along the river Godavari within a month and finalise plans to improve facilities and also organise the Pushkarams on the line of Kumbha Mela.

The endowment minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was like to participate in the inaugural of the Godavari Pushkarams in 2015. The state government has earmarked Rs.500 crore for development of bathing ghats, and other infrastructure all along the temple in the Godavaru basin.
