Hussain Sagar has two Sewerage Treatment plants. Every day 50 million liters of water is treated, out of which 35 million liters enters the lake and 15 million liters of recycled water is left over. Out of these, 15 million liters, of 7 million liters are used by the HMDA to keep up the greenery around Tank Bund and Necklace Road. The remaining 8 million liters are available to be purchased.
The treated water will contain broke down oxygen, residual chlorine and different elements like Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and suspended solids. It can be used for various purposes including constuction, irrigation, landscaping and gardening.
