A PIL was filed by a lawyer named Ashok Pande in the Allahabad High Court, seeking the whereabouts of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi who has gone on leave before NDA Govt’s first budget session. The petitioner in his PIL requested the Lucknow bench of the high court to ask the Special Protection Group to check on his safety and reputation of the Government of India.
“I have pleaded in a PIL submitted with the registry that the central government and the SPG must not sit idle and start intensive search for him. I have come to know that the SPG personnel were not accompanying him when he decided to go on leave. It is a serious matter. He is among the most protected persons in the country”, said Pande.
The 44 year old MP from Amethi triggered a nationwide controversy by taking leave of absence when the parliament’s budget session began with the much debated land bill being the burning issue for the opposition. Sources in the Congress said Rahul has been “granted leave of absence for a few weeks after which he will return and resume his active participation in the affairs of the Congress party.”
