Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has granted Rs250 crore to Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) to meet its immediate needs and also save it from its financial crisis.

The initiative of CM came after he heard from the APSRTC managing director J.Purnachander Rao in detail at his chambers in the Legislative Assembly, about how the APSRTC has borrowed from the employees cooperative society to pay this months salary.

Rao told CM that the transport body has incurred a huge loss of over Rs2,000 crore in the last 5 to 6 years due to bandhs and agitations.(95 days strike in 2013 and 35 days bandh in 2014).

Chandrababu Naidu also directed the APSRTC to increase its efficiency in performance, cutting fuel cost, occupancy rate and increase revenues from rural services.
