Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly accepted US President Barack Obama's invitation. If all goes well, Modi will be visiting Obama in Washington in September. According to reports, Modi has received invitation from World's powerful president for two-way talks. The duo is expected to strike a business deal between two powerful countries. However, US Embassy and PMO remained tight-lipped over the reports.
Modi had been refused US Visa twice when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat and UPA II was in regime. US Visa to Modi was denied over his alleged involvement in Gujarat 2002 riots which costed 1000 lives, most of them being Muslims. However, the Supreme Court of India ruled out his involvement in the riots and gave clean chit to Narendra Modi. Despite this, US hasn't come forward to give Visa to Modi until Opinion Polls predicted him as the next PM then. The U.S. ambassador to India met Modi earlier this year, as all surveys showed his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on course for an election victory. U.S. officials had said a visa and an invitation to meet would probably be forthcoming if Modi won. Now that Modi became India's 15th PM, US is now going to roll out the red carpet for Modi.
